Maersk unveils “Trade & Tariff Studio” to simplify customs management

Maersk has launched Maersk Trade & Tariff Studio, an AI-driven customs-management platform.

Lars Karlsson, Global Head of Trade & Customs Consulting at Maersk stated that the new platform delivers clarity, compliance, and cost optimisation when goods cross borders.

Key features of the platform will include: Centralised, AI-powered tariff engineering covering more than 6,000 product codes and 20,000 sub-codes, reducing overpayments that Maersk estimates average 5–6 %, up-front compliance screening to mitigate delays, real-time regulatory updates via data partners and Maersk’s network, FTA optimisation tools.

The platform goes live 28 June for US imports, with global availability slated for August.

Trade & Tariff Studio also helps businesses keep pace with widening regulatory demands from product-safety and labour standards to forthcoming environmental rules such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and new deforestation regulations reducing the risk of fines or market bans.

The tool integrates seamlessly with Maersk’s end-to-end logistics services but can also operate as a stand-alone solution for organisations that still rely on fragmented networks of local brokers.
