Maersk tops schedule reliability rankings, MSC and CMA CGM follow

In October, the global schedule reliability of ocean carriers remained steady at 64.4%, showing no month-on-month change, according to Sea-Intelligence report.

Except for the May increase, reliability has maintained a consistent range within 2% points since March 2023.

Meanwhile, schedule reliability has seen a significant uptick of 12.6% points year-on-year. Concurrently, the average delay for late vessel arrivals has risen by 0.33 days month-on-month, reaching 4.90 days. This month-to-month increase aligns the average delay for late vessel arrivals on a trajectory reminiscent of the same period in 2020.

Furthermore, Maersk held the first spot in October, being the most reliable top-13 carrier with 71.1% schedule reliability, followed by its main rival MSC with 68.5%. Six carriers, including MSC, achieved schedule reliability of 60%-70%, while the remaining six had schedule reliability of 50%-60%.

With a schedule reliability of 53.7%, South Korean container carrier HMM was the least reliable carrier in October, while six of the top thirteen carriers reported an M/M rise, with HMM reporting the biggest gain of 7.7% points. Moreover, 11 of the 13 carriers improved by double digits year on year, with Taiwan’s Wan Hai improving by the most, 22.8% points.
