Maersk has announced a revision to its pre-gate (ticket) process for export shipments moving through Piraeus terminals, as part of efforts to streamline operations and improve customer experience.
Effective from 1 February 2026, the new pre-gate process will apply to all export shipments handled via Piraeus. Under the revised procedure, pre-gate tickets will only be issued for shipments and containers where the vessel’s estimated time of departure (ETD) falls within the next 10 calendar days and where the Verified Gross Mass (VGM) has been duly submitted.
Maersk confirmed that pre-gate tickets will not be created for shipments with an ETD exceeding 10 days or for containers where the VGM has not been provided.
The company said the updated process is intended to improve operational efficiency at the terminal and ensure smoother handling of export cargo through the Piraeus gateway.
