Maersk has announced a revision to its Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) applicable to cargo moving from Pakistan to the United States and Canadian East Coast and Gulf ports.
The revised surcharge will apply to all ports of destination and will be effective from 17 January 2026 through 4 February 2026. Under the updated tariff, the Peak Season Surcharge for 20-foot reefer and 40-foot high-cube reefer containers has been set at zero for the specified period.
Maersk noted that the applicable rates remain subject to other relevant surcharges, including local charges and contingency charges. The adjustment does not affect, nor is it affected by, any tariffs notified, published or filed in accordance with local regulatory requirements.
For trades governed by the U.S. Shipping Act or China Maritime Regulations, Maersk added that any quotations or surcharges deviating from its published tariff will only be binding if they are included in a service contract or a formally filed service contract amendment with the relevant authorities.
