Maersk renews seasonal South Africa – Europe service

Maersk has decided to renew its seasonal inland and ocean offering from the Eastern Cape load port of Gqeberha in South Africa to North and South Europe.

The Danish ocean carrier said that with a network of seven vessels each with approximately 450 plugs, it will offer weekly coverage starting in May 2024.

Maersk’s “Fruit Bridge” Service will connect exports from Gqeberha to various destinations via transshipment in Algeciras, Spain and Port Tangier, Morocco.

The first vessel to call Gqeberha will be the 2007-built container ship Celsius Boston during the 20th week of the year.
