Maersk has reflagged two of its container ships, the 1,800 TEU, 2010-built Maersk Vilnius and Maersk Vigo, under the Indian ship register.

This strategic move demonstrates Maersk’s deeper commitment to the Indian maritime sector, aligning with the company’s long-term goal of strengthening its regional presence and supporting the country’s efforts to enhance its global shipping footprint.

By transferring the vessels to the Indian flag, Maersk aims to boost operational flexibility, promote local maritime employment, and contribute to India’s growing role in global trade and logistics. The reflagging also underscores India’s emergence as an increasingly important hub within Maersk’s network across Asia and the Middle East.
