Maersk opens new ground freight and linehaul hub in Lake City

Maersk has opened a new ground freight station and integrated linehaul hub in Lake City, expanding its logistics footprint across the Southeastern United States and strengthening its nationwide supply chain network.

Located just south of Atlanta, the facility sits near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and has direct access to Interstate 75, placing it within one of the region’s busiest logistics corridors. Its proximity to major rail lines, distribution centers, and industrial zones provides strong connectivity for regional and national freight movements.

The new hub offers:

  • 105,000 sq. ft. of operational space

  • 28 loading docks

  • A fleet of 15 trucks and 60 trailers

  • Support for LTL and linehaul operations

  • RF scanning and digital dimensioning for shipment accuracy and real-time visibility

“Our investment in Lake City reflects Maersk’s commitment to building a smarter, faster, and more connected ground freight network. By bringing together cartage and hub operations here in Lake City, we’re able to improve transit times and provide more consistent, reliable service to the people and businesses that depend on us,” said Gabe Alizieri, Head of Maersk Ground Freight, Maersk.

The facility supports a wide range of services, including standard and specialized LTL, expedited LTL, FTL, linehaul, home and store delivery, and dedicated fleet solutions. It also aligns with Maersk’s broader network optimization strategy by using advanced routing intelligence, real-time visibility tools, RF scanning, and digital dimensioning to enhance operational accuracy.

With more than 65 ground freight facilities across North America, Maersk continues to expand its logistics network through new infrastructure and technology-driven operations. The Lake City hub follows the recent opening of the company’s Dallas–Fort Worth Station and Hub, reinforcing Maersk’s commitment to integrated, nationwide logistics.
