Maersk has inaugurated a new fully automated global and regional distribution centre in Singapore, significantly expanding its logistics and e-commerce capabilities across the Asia Pacific region.
The facility, named World Gateway II, spans 1.1 million square feet and is designed to support growing demand from companies using Singapore as a regional and global distribution hub.
Supported by the Singapore government, the new centre will serve both business-to-business and business-to-consumer operations, handling a wide range of products across sectors including retail, fast-moving consumer goods, lifestyle, wellness and technology.
Strategically located near major transport infrastructure such as Tuas Port and Changi Airport, the facility is positioned to enable efficient international cargo distribution. It is also situated close to Maersk’s existing World Gateway distribution centre, which covers 1.0 million square feet.
“The launch of World Gateway II reflects the importance of Singapore to our global network and the immense opportunities we see in Asia,” said Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk.
“Underpinned by continued export strength and increasing consumption, Asia’s growth trajectory remains extraordinary. This new facility is yet another milestone of our fast-growing integrated logistics business in the region, and how we support customers with more resilience and flexibility,” he added.

The new warehouse is equipped with advanced automation technologies aimed at improving efficiency and scalability. These include a Multi-Shuttle System, Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), Autonomous Case-handling Robots and Autonomous Mobile Robots.
According to the company, these systems will enable faster order fulfilment, reduce lead times and improve operational accuracy by minimizing manual handling.
The opening of the facility marks a further step in Maersk’s strategy to strengthen its integrated logistics offering and enhance supply chain performance for customers across Asia Pacific.
