Maersk has announced a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments from the US Gulf to the West Coast of South America, effective from 6 May 2026 until further notice.
The surcharge will apply to cargo moving from Houston, Mobile and New Orleans to destinations including Buenaventura, Ecuador, Chile, Peru and Bolivia.
The PSS will be set at USD 150 per 20-foot dry container and USD 300 per 40-foot dry container.
The carrier noted that the surcharge applies to non-spot bookings, with the price calculation date based on the scheduled departure date for non-FMC trades and the last container gate-in date for FMC-regulated trades.
Maersk added that the surcharge will be collected in line with freight payment terms, while spot bookings are excluded from the application of the PSS.
