Maersk will introduce new inland peak season surcharges for cargo moving through the Italian ports of Naples and Salerno.
For exports, the Inland Peak Season Surcharge (IPE) will apply to shipments from Italy to global destinations. For imports, the Inland Peak Season Surcharge (IPI) will apply to cargo moving from global origins into Italy. The surcharges will take effect on January 24, 2026, for regulated countries and January 17, 2026, for non-regulated countries.
The surcharge will apply to all container types handled on a store-door basis by truck. Maersk has set the rate at EUR 90 per container for both Naples and Salerno.
Maersk said the measure supports its ability to maintain reliable inland and ocean services during the peak season. The company added that the surcharge allows it to continue offering broad network coverage and competitive transit times through its Italian gateways.
