Maersk inks deal for new cold chain facilities in Pakistan

Maersk Pakistan has signed an agreement with TezMedz and Tabiyat.pk to establish two cold chain warehousing and distribution (W&D) facilities in Karachi and Islamabad for the Pakistani health tech startup, which are projected to be operational from 1 January 2022.

TezMedz and Tabiyat.pk delivers authentic medicines to pharmacies and consumers through online platforms, aiming to solve the problem of counterfeit medicines in Pakistan by providing trustworthy medicines in optimal conditions to customers.

The new partnership with Maersk is anticipated to help strengthen the company’s mission by ensuring that medicines will be stored at optimal temperatures and will retain their efficacy.

“TezMedz and Tabiyat.pk required temperature-controlled warehouses that were equipped with robust systems precisely managing inventories and a setup offering fast distribution to match the speed expected of any e-commerce platform,” said Aruna Hussain, Managing Director at Maersk Pakistan, to add, “After carefully studying the requirements and thoroughly designing the processes, we were able to tailor-make a cold chain W&D solution for them.”

The two facilities will cover a total footprint of 1,858m2  with warehouse management systems for precise inventory management which is extremely critical especially when it comes to expiry-sensitive pharmaceuticals and medicines, according to the Danish logistics group.
