According to DynaLiners, Maersk will remove seasonal calls at Cotonou and Ngqura from its WAF7 route. The change is part of the Gibraltar Straits–West Africa service update.
Deployment will drop from seven to five ships, each around 2,500 TEU. The vessels will now sail Tangier, Algeciras, Freetown, Conakry, and back to Tangier.
Maersk says the adjustment will improve schedule reliability and optimize vessel capacity. Fewer stops mean faster transit times for the remaining ports.
Shippers using Cotonou and Ngqura will need to find alternative connections. Maersk encourages customers to plan ahead to avoid delays.
The move reflects broader trends in West Africa. Carriers are adjusting services to match demand and rising operational costs.
WAF7 continues to serve key West African hubs while maintaining links with Europe. Maersk highlights efficiency and predictability as top priorities.
