Maersk changes MECL service rotation

Danish ocean carrier Maersk has announced that it will introduce a stop at the Indian port of Mundra on the MECL service aiming to enhance product delivery from India to North America. Simultaneously, the service will discontinue its westbound call at the port of Algeciras in Spain.

This adjustment will result in an average reduction of five days in transit times from India, Pakistan, and the Middle East to the US East Coast, according to Maersk’s announcement.

The updated MECL rotation will be as follows:

Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates) → Mundra (India) → Pipavav (India) → Nhava Sheva (India) → Salalah (Oman) → Newark (United States) → Charleston ( United States) → Savannah (United States)→ Houston (United States) → Norfolk (United States) → Newark (United States) → Tangier (Morocco) → Salalah (Oman)

US-flagged container ship Maersk Atlanta will be the first vessel on this new rotation, expected to arrive in Mundra on 24 February 2025.
