Maersk has introduced a relief package to support customers in Jamaica following the disruption caused by Hurricane Melissa, which affected supply chain operations across the island.
To ease the operational and financial burden on customers, Maersk has implemented the following measures for Kingston, Jamaica:
-
Suspension of combined Detention and Demurrage charges from October 24 to November 7, 2025. Charges incurred before October 24 remain applicable.
-
For containers discharged and currently inside the terminal, demurrage will resume on November 8. Containers picked up before that date will enjoy a grace period through November 7 (inclusive).
-
For containers already dispatched before the terminal closure and awaiting return, demurrage will also be suspended until November 7, resuming on November 8.
These measures reflect the most recent operational updates from the Kingston terminal, which resumed gate movements on October 30. Maersk noted that it continues to closely monitor the situation and will communicate further updates if conditions change.
“Giving you the best ability to manage your supply chain is of the utmost priority to us,” Maersk stated. “Our teams remain available to provide support and ensure smooth operations as recovery progresses.”
