
Maersk has announced a revision to its peak season surcharge for shipments from various Asian origins to South Africa and Mauritius.
The affected origins include China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong China, Taiwan China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore.
The updated surcharge details are as follows:
Effective from August 1, 2025, for all listed origins (including Vietnam), will be US$ 700 for all 20-foot dry containers and US$ 1,300 for all 40-foot dry containers.
For shipments specifically from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan China will be US$ 1,000 for 40-foot NOR (non-operating reefer) containers, effective from August 4, 2025.
For shipments from Vietnam will be US$ 1,000 for 40-foot NOR containers, effective from August 6,2025.
These surcharges apply to cargo bound for South Africa and Mauritius and reflect seasonal adjustments due to increased demand and capacity management.
