The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and A.P. Moller-Maersk Group have signed a strategic partnership agreement, marking the return of Maersk-affiliated vessels to the Suez Canal starting early December. Full-capacity transit, including CMA CGM vessels, is expected later that month.
Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman of the SCA, said the move restores the Canal’s role as the shortest, fastest, and most secure route linking East and West, supporting global supply chain sustainability. The agreement also opens new cooperation opportunities across maritime and logistical operations.

Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk Group, emphasized the Canal’s pivotal role in Maersk operations and hailed the partnership as a step toward resuming pre-crisis transit volumes. He noted that security improvements in the Red Sea and the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit have helped stabilize the region, reducing shipping costs and risks.
The signing ceremony in Ismailia was attended by senior representatives from both organizations. The agreement reflects decades of cooperation and aims to ensure smoother, safer, and more efficient transit for global trade through the Suez Canal.
