MacGregor has named Jonas Gustavsson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective today. He steps into the role following the retirement of Leif Byström.
Gustavsson joined the company earlier this year as Deputy President. Before that, he served as CEO of AFRY AB from 2017 to early 2025. His background includes senior roles at Sandvik, Rotax, Bombardier, and ABB, adding up to more than two decades of leadership in industrial and engineering sectors.
”We’re excited to welcome Jonas as CEO,” said Ilkka Tuominen, Board Member at MacGregor Group AB and a representative of Triton, MacGregor’s new owner. “He brings strong leadership and a clear vision for the future.”
Gustavsson, a Swedish national born in 1967, holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He said he feels honored to lead a company known for innovation in maritime cargo handling.
”Over the past few months, I’ve seen the passion and commitment of our global team,” said Gustavsson. ”Together, we’ll keep building on our strengths and delivering long-term value to our customers.”
He also thanked his predecessor for laying a solid foundation.
Leif Byström leaves the company after a 42-year career. He held various leadership positions and was deeply involved in shaping MacGregor’s journey.
”I’ve seen MacGregor grow and evolve,” Byström said. ”It’s been an honor to be part of this team. Jonas is the right person to lead us forward.”
