Luka Koper has placed a repeat order for four electric Konecranes Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes for the Port of Koper in Slovenia. The port ordered four identical units in 2024. Konecranes booked the new order in Q3 2025, and delivery is planned for Q2 2026.
The Port of Koper is Slovenia’s only cargo seaport and a major Adriatic hub for Central and Eastern Europe. Luka Koper continues to upgrade its container terminal with a strong focus on efficiency and lower emissions.
The four new electric RTGs will replace several older diesel units. They will run on cable reel systems connected to the local grid and include onboard battery packs to support stack changes. Each crane will feature Konecranes’ Truck Lift Prevention system to improve safety during container handling.

Luka Koper already operates a large fleet of Konecranes equipment, including 32 RTGs and four Rail-Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes. One of the RMGs runs with a Remote Operating Station.

The contract supports Konecranes’ Ecolifting vision. The program aims to expand the positive environmental impact of Konecranes products and services while helping customers cut carbon emissions. Ecolifting includes diesel optimization, hybrid solutions, and fully electric fleets.
