Los Angeles port records busiest quarter in its history

The Port of Los Angeles (POLA) handled a record-breaking 954,706 TEUs in September, marking a 27% increase from the same month of the previous year. At the same time, the Californian port recorded its busiest quarter (July-September 2024) in its history with 2,854,904 TEUs.

By the end of September 2024, the major US container port has seen an 18% increase in traffic compared to the same period in 2023. Overall, the Port of Los Angeles has moved 7,586,395 TEUs in the firs nine months of the year.

Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka highlighted the efficiency and skill in managing the high cargo volumes.

For September, loaded imports reached 497,803 TEUs, up 26% from the previous year, while loaded exports decreased by 5% to 114,702 TEUs. POLA also saw a 45% increase in processed empty containers, totaling 342,201 TEUs.
