Lloyd’s Register and DYNAMARINe team up to boost STS safety

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has partnered with DYNAMARINe to deliver an independent auditing program for ship-to-ship (STS) service providers.

LR auditors will evaluate providers against OCIMF Guidelines and DYNAMARINe’s risk data. DYNAMARINe will review the reports and issue a final performance score, creating a trusted, consistent framework to verify competence and reliability worldwide.

The initiative supports the updated OCIMF STS Guide, which calls for independent verification of service providers’ self-assessments. It also reduces audit duplication and moves toward a standardised assurance model tailored for STS operations, similar to SIRE.

Ehud Bar-Lev, LR Business Development Manager, said:
“This partnership strengthens safety and sustainability in shipboard operations. Combining LR’s auditing expertise with DYNAMARINe’s technical leadership gives energy companies and service providers confidence and accountability.”

Dr Alexandros Glykas, Managing Director of DYNAMARINe, added:
“Working together, we provide STS assurance to tanker operators while recognising providers striving to improve standards.”

This marks the first time an IACS member has directly audited STS service providers, highlighting LR’s role at the forefront of maritime safety and independent verification.
