Latitude naval technologies established at Port of Riga

Latitude Construction, the shipbuilding company operating under the Latitude Yachts brand at the Port of Riga, has announced the establishment of a new subsidiary, Latitude Naval Technologies, dedicated to the development of offshore platforms for security and defence applications.

The new entity adds to the growing cluster of innovative and military technology companies operating within the port.

The venture draws on Latitude Construction’s more than 20 years of experience in designing and building ships, yachts and marine platforms using both conventional materials such as steel and aluminium and advanced composite materials.

Through partnerships across Europe and the United States, the company has developed extensive capabilities in composite manufacturing, robotic precision milling and complex geometry production, competencies that will underpin the new defence-oriented subsidiary.

The first project under the Latitude Naval Technologies banner is the LNT-27, a tactical catamaran designed for maritime security operations, patrol duties and other specialised tasks requiring a fast, stable and efficient platform.

The company plans to develop dedicated composite shipbuilding infrastructure in Riga to support production of the vessel and future projects.

The initiative is framed as a contribution to both Latvia’s economic development and its national security posture, with plans to create high-value engineering jobs, promote technology transfer and build long-term capability within the Latvian defence industry.

The company is currently expanding its team, seeking naval architects, engineers, technicians and other specialists to support the development of next-generation marine technologies.

The establishment of Latitude Naval Technologies reflects a broader trend of commercial shipbuilders pivoting toward defence applications in response to growing demand for maritime security solutions across the Baltic region.
