Lakeway Link adds M/S Mistral, launches daily baltic sailings

Lakeway Link is expanding its Baltic Sea operations with the addition of the M/S Mistral. It’s a sister ship to M/S Lakeway Express. The vessel will join the fleet under a time charter agreement in November 2025, strengthening the route between Södertälje and Gdynia.

Firstly, the M/S Mistral is identical in design and capacity to the M/S Lakeway Express. The 153-meter vessel has a gross tonnage of 10,471 MT and offers 1,624 lane meters. Moreover, accommodates about 110 trailers. It sails under the Finnish flag, is homeported in Mariehamn, and is owned by Godby Shipping of Åland.

With the new vessel, Lakeway Link will introduce daily departures, Monday through Friday, in both directions between Södertälje and Gdynia. In addition, the expansion responds to rising customer demand for more frequent sailings.

“We are pleased to meet our customers’ requests for daily sailings between Gdynia and Södertälje,” said Göran Söderdahl, CEO of Lakeway Link. “The addition of M/S Mistral strengthens our service offering and enables reliable, efficient RoRo transport for existing and new customers across the Baltic Sea.”

The service focuses on roll-on/roll-off cargo, including trailers, heavy units, and project shipments. Lastly, with a crossing time of around 22 hours, it offers a fast and dependable alternative to road transport. So, it connects central Sweden with Poland’s logistics network.
