KWE Obtains SBTi Validation for Greenhouse Gas Reduction Objectives

Kintetsu World Express announces that the Science Based Targets initiative has validated its near-term and long-term net-zero science-based greenhouse gas reduction objectives.

Established in 2015 through a collaborative effort between UNGC, WWF, WRI, and CDP, SBTi works to limit global average temperature increases from climate change to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

To accomplish this objective, SBTi promotes corporate adoption of greenhouse gas reduction goals grounded in scientific research and evidence. SBTi certification represents an international benchmark recognizing companies for their tangible decarbonization commitments.

The KWE group has established the following reduction objectives:

Short-term objectives

  • Achieve 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by FY2030 using FY2023 as baseline
  • Achieve 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by FY2030 using FY2023 as baseline

Long-term objectives

  • Achieve 90% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by FY2050 using FY2023 as baseline
  • Achieve 90% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by FY2050 using FY2023 as baseline
