Kongsberg Discovery supports Baltic Sea security initiative

Kongsberg Discovery has welcomed the Joint Declaration of Baltic Sea Security, signed on 20 November, aimed at protecting critical maritime infrastructure. The initiative promotes regional cooperation to safeguard pipelines, power cables, offshore platforms, and sensor networks, which are increasingly seen as strategic assets.

Arne Rinnan, Executive Vice President for Strategy and Technology at Kongsberg Discovery, said the declaration is a positive step for securing the maritime domain. “The Oslofjord Test Bed, opened in June, demonstrates how we can integrate subsea autonomy, satellite and land-based sensors, traffic monitoring, and real-time analytics into a single scalable system,” he said.

Rinnan noted that the declaration encourages further action and collaboration. “Our technology has attracted significant attention from government officials at home and abroad. The key question remains: who holds responsibility in the event of an incident?”

The declaration, signed by Norway, seeks to strengthen military cooperation, improve joint exercises and mobilization, uphold democratic values, and enhance regional stability, particularly amid geopolitical tensions with Russia.

On the same day, Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace joined the Green Industrial District – Kashubia Project in Poland, establishing operations to support regional security and industrial collaboration.
