Klaipėda Port has reached the one-million TEU container milestone earlier than ever before, underscoring its growing role as a key container hub in the Baltic Sea region.
For the fourth consecutive year, the port has surpassed the one-million mark, but this time, it did so two months ahead of schedule, achieving the result in early October. In previous years, the milestone was reached in mid-December (2024) and late December (2023, 2022).
“Reaching the one-million-container mark for the fourth year in a row shows that Klaipėda Port is a strong and reliable player in the container market,” said Algis Latakas, CEO of the Klaipėda Port Authority. “These results come from teamwork and smart decisions — when good infrastructure meets professional operations, the outcome speaks for itself.”
Recent infrastructure improvements, including the deepening of the navigation channel and other modernization projects, have enabled the port to accommodate larger, fully loaded vessels and enhance operational efficiency, even in challenging weather conditions.
Driven by effective port management and reliable stevedoring services, Klaipėda continues to attract major shipping lines seeking efficient and resilient logistics solutions in Northern Europe.
By the end of 2025, the port is projected to handle approximately 1.3 million TEU, up from 1.07 million in 2024 and 1.05 million in 2023, setting a new benchmark for container throughput in Lithuania’s maritime sector.
