Construction has officially begun on Klaipėda’s new Cruise Ship Terminal, with the first metal piles arriving by sea from Antwerp. The project aims to transform the port into a vibrant, welcoming space that boosts cruise tourism and reconnects the city with its maritime roots.
“This terminal is more than infrastructure — it’s a new gateway between the city and the sea,” said Algis Latakas, CEO of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority. “It will benefit both cruise passengers and locals, bringing economic value and creating a lively waterfront destination.”
The terminal will feature reconstructed and new quays, an amphitheatre, walking and cycling paths, and leisure areas. Construction, led by contractor Tilsta, is expected to take three years.
