KEZAD Group and APT sign lease agreement for automotive aluminium plant

KEZAD Group signed a lease agreement with Al Ghurair Group subsidiary Automotive Precision Technology (APT) to establish an automotive aluminium component manufacturing facility.

Spanning 30,000 square meters, this state-of-the-art manufacturing plant for APT will be strategically positioned within KEZAD, adjacent to Emirates Global Aluminium, a major player in the global aluminium manufacturing sector.

Anticipated to commence operations by early 2025, this facility signifies a significant milestone in the collaboration between KEZAD and APT.

The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Omar Al Suwaidi, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE, alongside senior officials from the Ministry, Al Ghurair Group, and APT.

“We are pleased to be part of industrial sector partnerships of this calibre, which align with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology and Make it in the Emirates initiative, complementing the UAE’s industrial ecosystem and export growth by strengthening its ability to link global supply and demand. This enhances the performance and competitiveness of the industrial sector, increases the UAE’s investment attractiveness and promotes economic diversification,” stated Omar Al Suwaidi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.

With roots dating back to 1976, the Al Ghurair Group, headquartered in Dubai, has been a key player in the downstream aluminium industry. Through Gulf Extrusions, established in Jebel Ali, the group has been actively contributing to the sector’s growth.

Notably, the addition of a second plant in KEZAD in 2017 has bolstered the company’s overall capacity to an impressive 70,000 metric tons per year.

“We welcome the APT facility to KEZAD, which strengthens our Metals and Automotive Ecosystem. KEZAD Group’s world-class facilities and infrastructure, including specialty corridors like the Hot Metal road, will allow molten aluminium to be transported to the APT facility from EGA, resulting in significant savings in financial costs as well as a positive impact on the environment,” added Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD Group.
