KC Liner Agencies commences first direct service from China to Scotland

KC Liner Agencies has announced the first direct east and westbound container service between China and Scotland.

The maiden voyage departed from Ningbo, China on 6 June and is expected to arrive directly at the port of Greenock in Scotland around the 10th of July.

Operating under its own direct charter, and complemented by an alliance partnership with DKT Allseas, KC Liner Agencies’ China Xpress service will provide Scottish importers and exporters with a direct port call.

The China Xpress shipping solution is expected to significantly improve logistics and supply chain resilience by providing a new direct container service across Scotland and the United Kingdom.

“China Xpress is one of the most significant developments in the UK, and especially Scotland’s shipping industry, for many years. We’ve analysed the marketplace and listened to our customers, and there is no doubt that the service will bring much-needed efficiencies to their supply chains,” stated David Milne, KC Group Shipping managing director.

Six 1,600 TEU vessels will be deployed on the new service, which will have a ten-day port rotation and three sailings per month. China Xpress service will call at Ningbo, and the Chinese city of Shenzhen, before arriving in Greenock via its “sister” container terminal at the Port of Liverpool.

The new service aims to cut the journey time from approximately 60 days to an estimated 33 days by eliminating unscheduled port congestion delays in Rotterdam.
