Kalmar to power Perlis Inland Port development with advanced container handling fleet

Kalmar, in collaboration with Mutiara Perlis Sdn Bhd and its authorised Malaysian dealer Mach 1 Group, support the transformation of Perlis Inland Port into a future-ready logistics hub for Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region.

As part of this strategic initiative, Kalmar is supplying a fleet of cutting-edge container handling equipment, including six reachstackers, three empty container handlers, and six terminal tractors. The equipment, procured by Mach 1 Group during 2024, is scheduled for delivery by Q3 2025.

This milestone supports the ongoing transformation of PIP into a premier inland port, strengthening trade connectivity across Southeast Asia.

The newly supplied fleet will enable high-performance multimodal logistics operations, allowing MPSB to more than double PIP’s handling capacity.

The port aims to reach an ambitious annual throughput of 1 million TEUs upon full completion of the project.

Yew Boon Teo, Vice President, Kalmar AMEA, commented that this marks the start of a long-term collaboration focused on flexible, customer-centric solutions that meet today’s operational needs and tomorrow’s regional aspirations.

Beyond supplying equipment, Kalmar’s value in this partnership is extended through Mach 1 Group, Kalmar’s authorised Malaysian dealer since 2023.

Mach 1 will provide comprehensive lifecycle support, including 24/7 technical assistance, Kalmar Insight for real-time fleet performance analytics, and access to regional spare parts through Kalmar’s Singapore-based hub.
