Kalmar Corporation has secured an order to deliver 14 hybrid straddle carriers to PSA Antwerp in Belgium, with delivery scheduled for Q4 2026.
The order, booked in Q1 2026, supports efforts to modernize terminal operations at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges while reducing emissions.
Kalmar’s hybrid straddle carriers combine diesel engines with battery systems that capture and reuse energy, lowering fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to conventional equipment.
Jurgen De Wachter said the investment is part of broader initiatives to upgrade equipment and improve environmental performance.
Damien Cols added that the technology enables terminal operators to cut their carbon footprint without compromising productivity.
