“K” Line Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based subsidiary wholly owned by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, has confirmed that authorities have concluded the search and rescue operation related to the incident involving its vessel DEVON BAY on 22 January 2026.

The vessel was en route to Yangjiang, China, carrying a cargo of nickel ore when the incident occurred. According to the company, the search and rescue operation was officially concluded at 21:07 local time (UTC+8) on 1 February 2026, following a decision by the relevant authorities. Group vessels that had been assisting in the operation have since stood down in line with that decision.

The company expressed its gratitude to the Philippines and China Coast Guards, coordinating rescue centres, and all vessels and crews involved in the operation, including ships from the group’s own fleet, for their sustained and professional efforts throughout the search.

K Line extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased crew members and said its thoughts remain with the families of those crew members who are still unaccounted for. The company said it will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities and the ship manager to ensure that all affected crew members and their families receive the necessary support.

Describing the situation as an extremely difficult moment for families, colleagues, and loved ones, the company requested that their privacy be respected.

K Line added that, in cooperation with K Line Pte Ltd, it continues to assist with all relevant investigations and will not comment publicly on the cause of the incident while official investigations by the authorities are ongoing.
