Jazan port receives first container ship call

One year after its inauguration, Hutchison Ports’ new multipurpose terminal at the port of Jazan in Saudi Arabia handled its first commercial container vessel.

The 900 TEU boxship Kota Rahmat, operated by Pacific International Lines (PIL), is deployed on the intra-Red Sea trade and became the first container ship to call the Saudi port.

It is still unclear, according to DynaLiners, if this port call marks the beginning of regular container services at Jazan port or if it is a one-off event. In any case, PIL has not planned any further calls at the port according to its current schedules.
