ITI sets all-time cargo transfer record in 2025

Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI), operated by Hanseatic Global Terminals, closed 2025 with a record-breaking performance. The terminal handled more than 3.3 million metric tons of cargo. This represents a 33% increase compared with 2024.

The result confirms ITI’s position as a leading multipurpose terminal in the Andean market.

General Manager Rodrigo Pommiez said the achievement reflects strong teamwork and customer trust. He highlighted close coordination across the logistics chain. He added that careful planning and collaboration helped the terminal overcome challenges and reach historic levels.

Two newly added services, Chancay Express and Alpaca, supported the growth. Rising export volumes also played a key role. Improved logistics coordination and new equipment further boosted performance. ITI added eight reach stackers and two mobile harbour cranes to optimize operations and meet market demand.

In container terms, the terminal handled more than 424,000 TEUs. This figure exceeded annual projections by 21%.

Looking ahead to 2026, ITI will focus on operational efficiency and higher productivity. The terminal plans to improve service quality and strengthen safety standards. It will also integrate new technologies and further develop the Bolivian market. Sustainability and operational excellence remain core priorities.

Pommiez said continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency is essential to meeting customer needs and staying competitive in the port industry.
