The Isle of Man Ship Registry (IOMSR) has expanded its footprint in Asia with the appointment of Aga Nagarajan as its new representative in Hong Kong.
A seasoned maritime professional, Aga brings extensive industry experience from his previous role as Executive Director at Fleet Management Limited, one of the world’s leading ship management companies. His appointment reinforces IOMSR’s commitment to serving clients in one of the world’s most important maritime hubs.
Cameron Mitchell, Director of IOMSR, welcomed the appointment, highlighting Aga’s “deep understanding of operational challenges” and strong regional connections that will “further strengthen our presence in Asia.”
Aga said he looks forward to promoting IOMSR’s client-focused, innovative, and sustainable approach: “The Isle of Man Ship Registry delivers easy, efficient and competitive services with transparent fees and incentives for environmentally friendly ships.”
IOMSR offers a range of client benefits, including:
- Indefinite ‘favoured nation status’ for shipowners calling at Chinese ports — offering up to 28% savings on tonnage dues.
- 15% fee reductions for vessels adopting green technologies such as alternative fuels, wind or shore-side energy, and carbon capture systems.
- No hidden charges, including the absence of tonnage taxes, inspection fees, or consular fees.
With around 300 ships totaling 12.5 million GT, IOMSR ranks 18th globally (Clarkson’s) and is a Category 1 Red Ensign flag recognized for its exceptional safety and performance standards, including top rankings on the Paris MoU, Tokyo MoU, and USCG Qualship 21 lists.
Headquartered in Douglas, Isle of Man, the registry continues to expand its global network with representatives now based in Singapore, Norway, Japan, Dubai, Greece, and Hong Kong.
