Inmarsat to deploy NexusWave on Auerbach fleet

Inmarsat Maritime, part of Viasat, will deploy its NexusWave connectivity solution across Auerbach’s fleet of newbuild heavy lift vessels.

The service will support the German shipowner’s connectivity requirements for its next generation of ultra-efficient multipurpose ships.

Hamburg-based Auerbach has launched a fleet renewal programme to meet growing demand for project cargo transport and to prepare for tighter environmental regulations. The new ‘ECO’ vessels are under construction at Taizhou Sanfu Shipyard in China. The ships focus on improved cargo handling and fuel efficiency.

NexusWave will keep mission-critical onboard systems connected at all times. The fully managed bonded service offers high-speed connectivity, global coverage, and unlimited data.

The solution aims to deliver an internet experience comparable to shore-based networks. It supports data-heavy operations and regulatory reporting requirements. It also enhances operational performance and crew welfare.

Auerbach said the deployment will support efficient operations, compliance, and customer service across its new fleet.

Inmarsat Maritime said NexusWave will give Auerbach a competitive advantage by providing seamless, next-generation connectivity aligned with the company’s modernisation strategy.
