India Revokes Transshipment Facility for Bangladeshi Exports to Third Countries

India has revoked the transshipment facility it had extended to Bangladesh nearly five years ago, a move that could mark a shift in regional trade dynamics.

On 8 April, the Land Customs Section of the Indian Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs issued a notification rescinding Circular No. 29/2020, which had been in effect since 29 June 2020. The circular allowed Bangladeshi export cargo to be transshipped through Indian land customs stations to Indian ports and airports in containers or closed-bodied trucks for further shipment to third countries.
