Implementation of on-site storage battery project in Saijo City

Shikoku Electric Power and Imabari Shipbuilding have agreed to introduce a stationary power storage system at the Imabari Shipbuilding Saijo Shipyard Higashi-Hiuchi Factory, launching an on-site storage battery project.

Japan is actively promoting the expansion and use of renewable energy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. However, because renewable energy output depends heavily on weather conditions, ensuring a stable power supply remains a key challenge.

Through this project, a storage battery system will be operated to optimally manage charging and discharging.

This will help stabilize power supply and demand, maximize the use of renewable energy, and reduce electricity costs by effectively utilizing stored power and lowering peak factory demand.

The companies involved will continue working closely together to build expertise in on-site storage battery operations and contribute to both energy stability and the realization of a decarbonized society.
