Imabari Shipbuilding announced the delivery of the 64,000-dwt bulk carrier ULTRA DETERMINATION. The vessel was built at the company’s Shin Kasado Dockyard in Japan.
Versatile Cargo Handling
The handymax-size vessel was designed under the Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (CSR BC & OT). Each cargo hold includes topside and hopper tanks, allowing the ship to carry a wide range of cargoes.
The vessel can transport bulk commodities such as grain, coal, ore, and cement, as well as steel products including coils and long steel. Wide cargo hatch openings and four deck cranes improve cargo handling efficiency.
The ship can also carry cargoes regulated under the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code (IMSBC Code) and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code).
Environmental Compliance
The vessel meets international environmental regulations, including the MARPOL Convention and the Ballast Water Management Convention.
It is also designed to comply with Phase 2 CO₂ emission requirements while anticipating Phase 3 standards. The ship is equipped with a ballast water treatment system and includes an Inventory of Hazardous Materials in line with the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships.
Efficient Propulsion
The bulk carrier features several energy-saving technologies, including a high-efficiency propeller, energy-saving devices, and low-friction hull coating, all designed to improve propulsion performance and fuel efficiency.
