Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) has added three remote-control super post-Panamax quay cranes at Terminal D in Laem Chabang. The delivery, completed in December 2025, brings the terminal’s total to 17 quay cranes along 1,700 metres of quay.
The new cranes complete Terminal D’s development phase. They increase handling capacity and allow the terminal to serve three mega-vessels and one feeder vessel at the same time.
In October 2025, HPT also installed seven remote-control yard cranes at the terminal. Together, the new equipment improves vessel turnaround times and overall terminal efficiency.
The investment strengthens HPT’s technology-driven operations across Laem Chabang. Terminal D now uses remote-control cranes and autonomous electric trucks to boost productivity and safety.
HPT recently surpassed 50 million TEUs handled since 2002, reflecting its long-term growth and commitment to sustainable port operations.
Terminal D now has an annual capacity of 3.5 million TEUs. The fully electric equipment also supports HPT’s environmental goals while improving safety on the quay.
