The Vietnamese port of Ho Chi Minh City has become the first foreign port to join China’s “Container Shipping On-Time and Cost Reduction” program.

Launched in December 2023, the scheme, organised by the Ministry of Transport’s Maritime Safety Administration, aims to improve the efficiency and timeliness of container shipping logistics by helping ships use economical speeds for scheduled port calls and on-time arrivals. There are now 19 ports that are part of the scheme, with the others all being Chinese ports.
