HMM CEO Won Hyok Choi visited TTI Algeciras, marking the first visit by the shipping line’s top leadership since CMA Terminals joined the terminal’s shareholding structure. HMM holds a majority stake of 50% plus one share in the terminal.

The visit coincides with a significant development. The Port Authority of Algeciras Bay recently approved an expansion of TTI Algeciras’ concession, adding 15.9 hectares in Phase B of Isla Verde Exterior and extending the concession until 2066. The €150 million investment will add 500,000 TEU of capacity, bringing the terminal to 2.1 million TEU by 2028.

Since opening in 2010, TTI Algeciras has handled more than 18 million TEUs, establishing itself as a key transshipment hub on East-West and North-South trade routes in the Mediterranean.
