HMM has announced a restructuring of its services with the launch of the Mediterranean Service 2 (MD2) and the Korea Middle East – Pacific South (KMP) service. The Asia–Mediterranean segment of the current MP2 service will become a standalone loop under the new MD2 name, while the Transpacific segment will be integrated into the Korea Middle East Express (KME) to form the KMP service.
The MD2 service, commencing with the HYUNDAI NEPTUNE on September 7, 2025, will connect Asia with key West Mediterranean hubs including Spain, Italy, France and Morocco, with Tangier serving as a gateway for North Africa. The return leg will offer an express connection from the West Mediterranean to Pusan and Central China, while also linking Southeast Asia markets such as Vietnam and Thailand via Singapore.
The KMP service will strengthen connections across the Middle East, Asia and the US West Coast. Its first Transpacific sailing will begin with the YM WONDERLAND on September 4, 2025, offering direct services from Dubai to the US West Coast and from the US West Coast to North China, while also covering Southeast Asia.
The Asia–Middle East rotation will follow with the HMM DAON on September 8, 2025, adding Dalian as a new port of call and expanding coverage to Laem Chabang and Cai Mep.
Through these revisions, HMM aims to enhance service coverage, improve transit efficiency, and provide shippers with greater connectivity across key global trade lanes.
