HHLA buys stake in H2Global foundation

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has been involved in the newly established H2Global foundation in order to examine possibilities for achieving its climate targets to implement three hydrogen technology projects.

It is estimated that a total of US$23.5 to US$35 billion in funding will be provided for the development of green hydrogen in Germany, according to the Hamburg-based logistics and transportation company.

“With our activities, we want to contribute to the Port of Hamburg becoming a hub for hydrogen distribution,” explained the Chairwoman of HHLA’s Executive Board, Angela Titzrath.

Peter Altmaier, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, hailed the establishment of the foundation as a “genuinely historic project” and added, that “Germany must lead the way globally with hydrogen technology if we want to achieve our sustainability targets.”

The H2Global foundation brings together numerous participants who want to contribute to the economic market launch of green hydrogen and its derivatives and will implement a funding concept specially developed for this purpose.
