HGK Shipping moves push boat operations to Rotterdam

The push boat shipping operations performed by HGK Dry Shipping are crucially important for the steel and chemical industries. The HGK Shipping business site in Rotterdam will manage these transport operations in future.

HGK Shipping will manage its push boat operations from Rotterdam starting 1 October 2025. The task was previously handled from Duisburg. The move aims to strengthen cooperation between branches and improve transport efficiency.

Jos Davidse will take over as manager of push boat operations in the fourth quarter of 2025. Andreas Lemme, Managing Director of HGK Dry Shipping, will hand over this part of the company’s inland shipping operations. Davidse joined HGK at the start of 2025 and became part of the Rotterdam management team on 1 January.

The experienced logistics manager, Jos Davidse, will take over the overall responsibility for the push boat shipping activities at HGK Dry Shipping from 1 October 2025 onwards. He had already become part of the management team at HGK Shipping Rotterdam at the beginning of this year.

Rotterdam is a central hub for international cargo. Goods arriving from around the world enter Europe’s inland waterway system through the port. The same process applies in reverse for goods headed overseas.

Push boat operations are vital for supplying the steel and chemical industries along the Lower Rhine. Davidse said relocating the division to Rotterdam “lays the foundation for more efficient and future-oriented services.”

Before joining HGK, Davidse held senior roles at major shipping companies, most recently as Senior General Manager at thyssenkrupp Veerhaven. CEO Steffen Bauer praised him as “the ideal choice” to lead the division. Bauer added that the restructuring will allow HGK to optimize processes and serve customers more effectively.
