Helm Operations, a leading provider of maritime operations and crew management software, has announced a leadership transition. James Wadsworth will take over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Nolan Barclay, Helm’s first employee and former CEO, assumes the role of Chairman.

Wadsworth brings over 20 years of maritime industry experience and joined Helm a decade ago after nearly ten years with ClassNK in Japan, where he helped expand the organization internationally. At Helm, he has driven the company’s growth across North America and global markets, supporting over 400 customers managing nearly 12,000 vessels.

“It’s an incredible honor to step into this role and build on the strong foundation that Nolan and our team have created,” said James Wadsworth. “I’m excited to continue advancing Helm’s mission and grow with our customers worldwide.”

Outgoing CEO Nolan Barclay added: “James has been at the heart of Helm’s growth and success for the past decade. His deep understanding of our customers and technology makes him the ideal leader for this next chapter. As Chairman, I look forward to supporting him and the team as we continue transforming maritime operations globally.”

The transition underscores Helm Operations’ commitment to customer success, innovation, and global leadership in maritime software.
