Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and Exotec have signed a global framework agreement for warehouse automation. Exotec specializes in scalable robotics systems for intralogistics.

The partnership aims to advance automation within Hellmann Contract Logistics. The companies will transform supply chain processes through a goods-to-person fulfillment approach. An initial healthcare sector project has launched. Additional implementations are planned across other industries and regions.

The agreement addresses increasing intralogistics complexities. Rising customer demands, volatile order volumes, and shorter cut-off times require scalable fulfillment systems. Skilled worker shortages increase the need for automation. Advanced systems will help Hellmann absorb volume fluctuations and enhance process reliability.

Exotec’s modular solution will establish flexible end-to-end automation at Hellmann Contract Logistics sites worldwide. The automation can be quickly adapted to changing market requirements.

Hellmann is implementing the first project at a German healthcare customer site. The healthcare industry demands high delivery speeds and reliability. The solution enables end-to-end automation from goods receipt to shipping using a goods-to-person system.

Dynamic robots automatically store products after employee checks. The high-performance retrieval system enables short throughput times and late cut-off times for customers.

Volker Sauerborn, COO Contract Logistics at Hellmann, said flexibility and scalability are increasingly important in contract logistics. “With Exotec’s automation solutions, we can complement our services with state-of-the-art intralogistics technology,” he stated.

Markus Schlotter, Managing Director Central Europe at Exotec, called the partnership a significant step. The companies are pooling expertise to offer tailor-made and future-proof solutions.
