Hefring Marine and Tocaro Blue have announced a new partnership aimed at making vessel operations safer, smarter, and more efficient, for both manned and unmanned vessels.
The collaboration will bring together Tocaro Blue’s radar perception technology and Hefring Marine’s IMAS system. The result: real-time data-driven tools that help vessel operators make better decisions on the water.
By combining AI, radar, advanced sensors, and predictive analytics, the two companies aim to offer maritime operators a more intelligent way to navigate and operate vessels.
“This partnership creates a powerful new capability,” said John Minor, CEO of Tocaro Blue. “We’re offering real-time situational awareness and smart routing recommendations that can help prevent incidents and optimize performance.”
The integrated system will focus on two key areas:
-
Real-time speed guidance: Intelligent recommendations based on impact force awareness and current sea conditions.
-
Collision avoidance: Radar-based detection systems working together with speed data to prevent accidents.
Karl Birgir Björnsson, CEO of Hefring Marine, noted that IMAS is already helping operators make smarter decisions. “With Tocaro Blue’s radar tech, we’re building a new level of maritime intelligence, one that can spot risks before they happen,” he said.

The partnership will also support AI training and deeper analytics using real-world radar and vessel data. It’s a move that supports both traditional shipping and the fast-growing autonomous vessel market.
The companies are now inviting early adopters to test the integrated system, especially operators looking to boost safety, cut emissions, and improve performance through smart technology.
