HD KSOE unveils nuclear-powered container ship design

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), a company engaged in shipbuilding and offshore engineering businesses in South Korea, has revealed an innovative design for a 15,000 TEU nuclear-powered vessel.

HD KSOE has already received in-principle approval from the classification society ABS for its design, with power for the vessel to be supplied by a small modular reactor.

For safety reasons, a marine radiation shielding system has been applied using a double-tank method with stainless steel and light water.
