South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI), which constructed the container ship Dali that allided with Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge in March 2024, said in a statement that it delivered the 10,000 TEU ship as a safe and seaworthy vessel.

HD HHI was responding to the US National Transportation Safety Board’s disclosure on 18 November that a loose wire in the 2015-built Dali caused blackouts that resulted in the ship making contact with the bridge, leading to the collapse of the latter structure on 26 March 2024 around 1.28am EDT. Dali was just moving out of Baltimore port, heading for Sri Lanka.
