Hapag-Lloyd partners with HERE Technologies to enhance its container fleet visibility

Hapag-Lloyd has formed a strategic partnership with HERE Technologies, a location data and technology provider, to enhance visibility across global supply chains.

This collaboration integrates HERE Tracking with Hapag-Lloyd’s existing smart container tracking system, Live Position, to deliver real-time updates and predictive Estimated Times of Arrival (ETAs) for inland transport.

In response to ongoing supply chain disruptions, the demand for precise, real-time tracking has become critical. By deploying over 1.5 million tracking devices across 90% of its container fleet, Hapag-Lloyd can now deliver highly accurate arrival forecasts across its rail, barge, and truck transport networks. The company plans to extend tracking to its full fleet, with predictive ETA functionality rolling out early next year.

Also, powered by HERE’s AI-driven predictive capabilities, businesses and logistics teams gain reliable, up-to-the-minute data throughout the entire transportation journey, enhancing planning and decision-making for improved operational outcomes.

HERE Tracking provides versatile, real-time monitoring across various transportation modes, both indoors and outdoors. The solution includes predictive ETAs, customizable geofencing for smart alerts and notifications, and in-depth post-trip analytics.

“We are excited to redefine the future of supply chain visibility together with Hapag-Lloyd and to provide their customers with the precise ETAs they need to stay competitive in a constantly evolving marketplace. We are looking forward to extending our partnership with Hapag-Lloyd to further enhance their service offerings for even greater operational efficiency and end-customer satisfaction,” stated Jason Jameson, Chief Customer Officer at HERE Technologies.

Delivered via an API, HERE Tracking easily integrates with existing enterprise systems, allowing customers to manage their data securely and efficiently.

“As the first carrier to offer real-time visibility of our container locations through our Live Position product, Hapag-Lloyd is taking the next step with HERE to enhance inland ETA predictions,” mentioned Patrick Briest, Head of Network & Operations IT Products at Hapag-Lloyd.
